Phillip was born and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia, and began playing tennis at the age of 4 at the Boars' Head Sports Club. He began his junior tennis career at the age of 8, and became one of the top ranked junior tennis players in Virginia, and the Mid-Atlantic Region, by the age of 10. At 12, Phillip was one of the top ranked junior tennis players in the country and was invited to train at the Van der Meer Tennis Academy in Hilton Head, South Carolina, as the only boarding student in the program who hadn't yet reached high school. Phillip competed in his first Junior Orange Bowl at the age of 13, and won his first Junior ITF match the same year at the Eddie Herr while it was still hosted at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Phillip transferred to Saddlebrook Preparatory School in Wesley Chapel, Florida, to train at the Saddlebrook Tennis Academy with some of the top ranked junior tennis players in the world. Under the supervision of former ATP tennis players and ATP coaching professionals such as Craig Boynton, former coach of John Isner, Phillip decided that tennis was the only career path he could envision for himself and began committing to developing the skills to make a career out of the sport. Having been exposed to the training regimens of players such as the Bryan brothers, Tommy Haas, Andy Roddick, James Blake, John Isner, and others, Phillip's passion for tennis only continued to grow as he developed a deeper understanding of the requirements a career in professional tennis would impose. After graduating from high school, Phillip earned his USPTA Certification at the age of 18 and has been coaching tennis and tennis fitness at all levels ever since. For the entire month of January all members first 2 private lessons or clinics with Phillip will be free. To schedule a lesson with Phillip you can reach him at 434-249-5116
